My Next Chapter

A Letter From Nicole · Founder, Bubbaroo

Twenty years ago this year, I launched Bubbaroo. Here's the part of the story I haven't told yet.

On the surface, it was about swaddles and sleeping bags: helping babies sleep safely through the night. That was certainly part of it. But if I'm honest, it was never just about the babies. It was always about the women behind them.

Every lesson I've learnt over the past two decades, through business, motherhood, family and life, has quietly shaped what comes next. Looking back now, I can see that every unexpected turn has led me here.

Chapter One

Motherhood: Where It All Began

Bubbaroo was born from my own postpartum experience after my son was born. Becoming a mother showed me just how profoundly underserved women can be. Sometimes the thing you need simply doesn't exist yet. So, you build it yourself.

That experience taught me lessons I've carried ever since. To listen to lived experience. To trust women when they say something isn't working. And to recognise that the gap between what women need and what's available to them is often far greater than we realise.

Those lessons became the foundation of Bubbaroo.

"Sometimes the thing you need simply doesn't exist yet. So, you build it yourself."
Chapter Two

The Sandwich Generation

What I haven't shared as openly is what was happening beyond my young family during those same years.

My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at just 58, before I even became a mum. So while I was building Bubbaroo and raising my own children, I was also watching my father's health change, year by year, while supporting my parents in whatever ways I could.

Like so many women, I found myself caring in both directions: raising children while gradually stepping into a caregiving role for my parents. There's a name for it: the sandwich generation. But having a name for it doesn't make it any less exhausting.

If you're in this stage of life too, you'll understand that somewhere along the way it's easy to stop asking how you're doing.

Chapter Three

No Journey Is a Straight Line

If you've noticed I've been a little quieter over recent years, this is a big part of the reason why.

Somewhere between raising my children, supporting my parents and finally paying attention to my own health, I realised I needed to pause and ask a bigger question: what matters most now?

That pause wasn't a detour. It turned out to be exactly where I was meant to be.

Somewhere along the way, I realised something that stopped me in my tracks. Many of the women who had trusted Bubbaroo to help their babies sleep twenty years ago were now navigating perimenopause, changing bodies, confusing symptoms and a health system that often didn't have answers. Once again, I could see a gap between what women were experiencing and the support available to them.

That realisation became HeraVita. Not because Bubbaroo's story had ended, but because it had naturally evolved.

The same curiosity that led me to create better products for babies has become a determination to better understand women's health. The same belief in listening to women, trusting lived experience and filling gaps where they exist continues to guide everything I do.

Bubbaroo will always be a huge part of who I am, and I'm incredibly grateful to every family who has trusted us over the past twenty years. That journey isn't over. HeraVita is simply the next chapter.

I'm more excited about this next chapter than I was when I launched Bubbaroo twenty years ago. Because this time, we're not just creating products; we're building knowledge, community and a movement that puts women's health where it belongs: at the centre of the conversation.

Same family.

Different chapter.

What HeraVita actually is

A quick heads up: heravita.com.au isn't a storefront, it's where the research lives. We're aiming to recruit 500+ women from communities across Australia for one of the country's most detailed emerging datasets on the midlife female body, capturing the real story behind postpartum, perimenopause, menopause and beyond, the kind of data no sizing standard has ever properly used.

Research comes first. Anything we build from it, including future apparel, will be shaped by collective insights from real women, not the other way around.

Events aren't open for booking just yet, but you can explore the HeraVita Journey now and join the waitlist so you're the first to know when dates near you are confirmed.
