Description

  • More zzzz’s

According to research, swaddling babies assists better quality sleep in the first few months. Helping keep your baby on their back increases peace of mind and reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Both products are designed to allow limb movement which means your baby can calm and resettle resulting in longer, uninterrupted periods of sleep.

  • Safety First

The Joey Pouch® Swaddle Wrap lets your baby sleep in their natural ‘arms up’ position and protects against hip dysplasia by allowing your baby to frog their legs. Our Joey Pouch Swaddle can calm your baby's startle reflex and stop them from scratching their face. The Joey Swag® baby sleeping bag zip-up system means your baby can’t slip down inside the baby sleeping bag or get caught in the cot bars. We use YKK brand zippers and YKK brand press studs on both products. All our Joey Swags® baby sleeping bags comply with BS8510:2009 Safety of children’s sleep bags and AS/NZ 1249 Children’s nightwear and limited daywear as having reduced fire hazard.

  • Comfy Counts

Our Joey Pouch Swaddle Wrap is different. While there’s slight pressure around your baby’s body, it’s designed to be comforting and not straight-jacket like. Rest assured that the Joey Pouch® allows enough movement for their arms and legs – they can even frog and kick with our bell shaped swaddle design. We’ve also designed our Swags to give bub sufficient squirmy room to move n’ groove without becoming uncovered.

  • Easy Peasy

In the Joey Pouch® Swaddle, your baby can self-soothe and settle by sucking on thumbs, finger or hands otherwise restrained. Bubbaroo design with ease in mind – night time feeding without needing to unwrap baby. Both products feature a bottom opening zip for quick nappy change. Adios your army of bed linen because using The Joey Swag® baby sleeping bag means no more top sheets and blankets while its anywhere travel system accommodates a 5-point harness in a car seat or pram.  Both products are machine washable and the Joey Swags® baby sleeping bag can be tumble dried.

SIDS AND KIDS GUIDE: BEST PRACTISES FOR SAFE SWADDLING

  • Ensure bub is positioned on their back with feet at the bottom of the cot.  Never place a swaddled baby on their tummy.
  • Ensure bub is wrapped from below the neck to avoid covering the face.
  • Sleep bub with face uncovered without doonas, pillows, cot bumpers and lamb’s wool or soft toys in the sleeping environment.
  • Use only lightweight wraps such as cotton or muslin (bunny rugs and blankets aren’t safe alternatives as they may cause overheating).
  • The wrap shouldn’t be too tight and must allow for hip and chest wall movement.
  • Make sure that bub isn’t over dressed under the wrap. Use only a nappy and singlet in warmer weather and add a lightweight onesie in cooler weather.  Refer to our guide of What to Wear with the Joey Pouch Swaddling Bag.
  • Provide a safe sleeping environment – safe cot, safe mattress, safe bedding and smoke free environment.
  • Bubs must not be wrapped if sharing a sleep surface (including bed-sharing) with an adult.
  • When bub is able to roll from their back to their tummy and then onto their back again during supervised play (usually 4-6 months), the use of a wrap or swaddling product can be discontinued for settling and sleep. The child is now able to be placed to sleep in a safe sleeping bag.

SIDS and Kids. National Scientific Advisory Group (NSAG). 2005. Information Statement: Wrapping babies. Melbourne, National SIDS Council of Australia. This information statement was first posted in October, 2005.

Bubs over the age of 4 months can usually rollover in the cot. SIDS and Kids recommend that once babies can roll, they can be placed in a safe baby sleeping bag (i.e. fitted neck and arm holes, and no hood such as a Bubbaroo Joey Swag baby sleeping bag). Keep baby’s head uncovered when indoors or in a car. Ensure baby has no head coverings, such as bonnets, beanies, hats or hooded clothing.  Put them on their back but let them find their own sleeping position. The risk of sudden infant death in babies over six months is extremely low.

Choosing a TOG

A TOG or the thermal resistance is a European warmth rating: the higher the tog, the warmer the product. Joey Swag baby sleep bags are available in four TOG ratings.

A number of factors determine the TOG rating of the baby sleep bag that should be used. These include the number of clothes your baby is wearing, the temperature of their bedroom and your baby's health.

1.0 TOG     Summer and daytime naps - warmer weather and in rooms of 21-23°C (69-74°F)

What to wear

Joey Swag Baby Sleep Bag is a wearable blanket that will keep your baby at a comfortable temperature whilst sleeping. The table below provides a guide on the correct TOG/weight of Joey Swag and clothing to be used in different room temperatures.

Joey Swag Baby Sleep Bags are designed to be used instead of blankets and top sheets. Once baby is asleep you should regularly check your baby to make sure they’re not too hot or cold, as all babies are different.

Choosing a size

An ideal time to start using a Joey Swag baby sleep bag is when your baby’s startle reflex settles down and they are rolling from their back to their tummy.  If your baby didn’t need to be swaddled then you can start using a Joey Swag from 4kg/8lbs 8oz (size 0-6 months) Your child's head should not be able to pass through the neck hole when the Joey Swag is fastened; otherwise the Joey Swag is too big. Remember to check the weight of your child.

Please remember that these are recommendations only and all babies are different.

Styling features

All Joey Swags have a front zip ideal if your child moves around.  All Joey Swags feature a YKK two-way zip and a slit at the back closed with beautiful soft Velcro so all Joey Swags can easily be used with a 3 or 5 point harness of a car seat or pram.

How to wash

Joey Swag Sleep Bags can be machine washed at 40°C. They can be line dried or tumble dried on a low heat setting. We have designed our Joey Swags to allow for up to 5% shrinkage. If you wish to wash your Joey Swag at 60°C, you should allow for a little more shrinkage. When washing, it is best to keep the zip closed and wash dark colours separately. You can iron your Joey Swag on a low, always keep the iron away from the zip or cover the zip with a cloth. We also recommend that you wash your Joey Swag with a detergent that is free from bleaching agents to retain the original colours.

FAQ

Why Swaddle My Baby?

Swaddling a newborn child is performed for a number of reasons. First and foremost it prevents Startle Reflex by making the bub feel like it is comfortably wrapped similar to inside their mother’s womb. Bubbaroo’s Joey Pouch® enables bub to self-soothe and settle safely, without scratching their face, by sucking on thumbs, fingers or hands through the soft 100% knitted cotton waffle. The Joey Pouch® helps bub sleep on their back which increases peace of mind and reduced the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Bubbaroo design with ease in mind – night time feeding without needing to unwrap baby, bottom opening zip for quick nappy change and safer handling of wrapped bub. Rest assured that the Joey Pouch® allows enough movement for their arms and legs – they can even frog and kick with our bell shaped swaddle design.

How long does a baby need swaddling?

Bubbaroo recommends that once a bub can roll it is time to introduce the Joey Swag® sleep bag. On average, bubs can roll between 3-6 months, however all babies developing stages are different, so it is important to watch your bubs growth and adapt accordingly.

Do your products comply with current safety standards?

Bubbaroo prides itself on its strict adhering to Australian and European safety standards and are personally quality controlled by Bubbaroo as well as independent third party testing and quality agencies. We have a saying at Bubbaroo that a product is only as good as what it’s made from and that’s why we insist on premium quality of materials and craftsmanship. We use 100% knitted cotton waffle, YKK zips and YKK press studs, knitted cotton for our blankies and 100% cotton lining and exterior.

What if my baby cries while being swaddled?

Starting to swaddle a bub shortly after birth will eliminate the bubs confusion of being tightly wrapped. Crying during or shortly after being swaddled is not an indications that bub doesn’t like to be swaddled. Adjusting to space is a large misconception for a baby so swaddling bub is something to persevere with as the soothing benefits of swaddling helps bub relax and stay calm and secured.

How many swaddles do I need?

We recommend that you start with two Joey Pouch Swaddling Bags. Bub’s can be messy little beings, having two Joey Pouch® swaddles allows you to have one on bub and the other in the wash.  We recommend the great value Newborn Pack which includes one Joey Pouch® swaddle and one Joey Swag® 1.0 TOG baby sleeping bag.

Can I use blankets with a swaddle?

Yes! Bubbaroo’s Blankies® are safe to use in your nursery and great to use when you’re out and about. It is recommended by SIDS to use as little as possible in the bubs cot for safety reasons and to tuck the Blankie® into the bottom of the cot.

Can my baby use the Joey Pouch® from birth?

Yes, right from birth is a great time to start using the Joey Pouch®. It is a light weight 0.5TOG which is suitable for all year around. It come in one size which is 70cm long and Bubbaroo recommends a minimum weight of 3.2 kg 7lbs and a maximum weight of 8kg 17.6lbs.

How should my baby’s legs be positioned in the Joey Pouch®?

Your bub natural sleep position is the perfect nap posture. The Joey Pouch® is shaped like a bell to make certain that bub can frog kick and are comfortable at all times.

What should I dress my baby in whilst in the Joey Pouch®?

Overheating has been liked to SIDS so what bub is wearing under their Joey Pouch® is very important. Below is a table which guides you to what is suitable for bub to wear under their Joey Pouch®.

What TOG rating is the Joey Pouch®?

The Joey Pouch® is made out of 100% cotton waffle and has a rating of 0.5TOG.

Is it safe to use a Joey Swag sleep bag over a Joey Pouch swaddle?

We do not recommend using a sleep bag over a swaddle. This can be related to overheating and can increase the risk of SIDS.

What is the Joey Pouch® made from?

The Joey Pouch® is made from 100% cotton waffle which is super comfy for bub and enables great breathability.

Is it unhygienic for my baby to suck their hands when they're wrapped in the Joey Swag®?

Bubbaroo believe in bubs self-soothing and the benefits of doing so whilst swaddling. Self-soothing is great to relax bub and it also protects from scratching their little faces. It is important to wash bubs Joey Pouch® once soiled for hygiene purposes.

Can my baby wear the Joey Pouch® in the capsule or car seat?

Yes! As long as their car seat/ capsule straps are over their shoulders and not constricting their arms it is safe to use the Joey Pouch®.

How do I use my Joey Pouch®?

3 steps

Can my baby sleep with their arms up in a Joey Pouch®?

It is recommended that a baby sleeps with its arms bent and hands in their natural sleep position up near bubs face. The Joey Pouch allows bub to have their arms up so bub can lift get their hands to their mouth to self soothe.

Why is the Joey Pouch® different from other brands of swaddles/wraps?

Our Pouch is different. While there’s slight pressure around your baby’s body, it’s designed to be comforting and not straight-jacket like. Rest assured that the Joey Pouch® allows enough movement for their arms and legs – they can even frog and kick with our bell shaped swaddle design. The Joey Pouch® lets bub sleep in their natural ‘arms up’ position and protects against hip dysplasia. Our Pouch can prevent baby's startle reflex and stop them from scratching their face. Once bub can rock n’ roll from back to tummy, it’s time to transition to the Joey Swag® baby sleeping bag if you want to progress bub straight to free arm movement. In the Joey Pouch®, bub can self-soothe and settle by sucking on thumbs, finger or hands otherwise restrained. Bubbaroo design with ease in mind – night time feeding without needing to unwrap baby, bottom opening zip for quick nappy change and safer handling of wrapped bub.

Is swaddling safe?

Yes. Swaddling is safe provided bub isswaddled correctly. Safe swaddling involves comforting and securing the newborn from their own startle reflex, but not restricting all natural movement. For healthy development, newborns need to breath freely, have some movement of their arms and be able to frog and kick their legs.At Bubbaroo, we have always been concerned about the restrictive nature of many of the products on the market. When Nicole Cassey developed the Joey Pouch Swaddling Bag it was specifically designed with a bell-shaped bottom to ensure full hip flex in newborns and freedom to kick their legs. Equally, whilst the internal wraps soothes newborns by calming their startle reflex, babies wrapped in the Joey Pouch can still move their arms and hands and self-sooth by sucking on their fingers through the swaddle if they wish.

The Joey Pouch is also made from light-weight, breathable 100% cotton waffle fabric, keeping baby covered but not at risk of overheating. Safe swaddling has also been proven to reduce the risk of SIDS as it encourages babies to stay sleeping on their back in a safer sleep position.

What if my baby rolls on his belly?

Once bub can rock n’ roll from back to tummy, it’s time to transition to the the Joey Swag® baby sleeping bag if you want to progress bub straight to free arm movement.

I have been using a different swaddler, but it seems too tight for the baby. Can I switch to the Joey Pouch®?

Yes! Switching to the Joey Pouch or other Bubbaroo products can be done at any time. The Joey Pouch® is unique as it allows for natural bub movement. The Joey Pouch® is comfortable fitting which reaps the benefits of swaddling and is not a straight jacket like many other competitors on the market. Bubbaroo is anti-mass market and we believe you will see, feel and love the high quality of all of Bubbaroo’s products.

Can I use the Joey Pouch® when breastfeeding?

Yes, a great benefit of the Joey Pouch® is that is helps contain bubs wandering hands whilst breastfeeding. Using the Joey Poruch® whilst breast feeding will make bub feel comfortable and relaxed which can help bub latch to the breast and ease feeding time.

When is the best time to swaddle?

The best time to swaddle is when baby is already calm and relaxed. If bub is distressed try firmly pressing on bubs chest with hand/s and continue to swaddle whilst applying light pressure. This will ease bub into the swaddle and help them calm.

Is the fabric breathable?

Yes, The Joey Pouch is made out of 100% organic cotton waffle fabric, which is lightweight and soft to the touch.

How many hours a day should a baby swaddled in their Joey Pouch®?

Whilst bub is growing in the womb, they are snuggled 24hours a day. Bubbaroo recommends that bubs need to be awake to explore tummy time and other engaging activities. Newborns can be swaddled in their Joey Pouch® for 12-20 hours a day with swaddle time decreasing with age. Once bub is at the 2-4 month age the Joey Pouch should be used with naps and sleep time and the rest of their adventurous day they can be stretching, exploring, bathing and changing. Remember that once bub can roll from back to tummy it is time to stop using the Joey Pouch® and start using the Joey Swag® baby sleeping bag.

What is a Baby Sleeping Bag?

A Baby Sleeping Bag or Baby Sleep Bag is a wearable blanket designed for babies to be used instead of sheets and blankets. Baby Sleeping Bags have a neck opening and armholes and are actually worn by the baby, toddler or child and help bub remain at the right temperature through the night or day without the issue blankets and sheets being kicked off or becoming tangled.

Are Baby Sleep Bags safe?

Yes. A well-fitting, low-TOG Baby Sleeping Bag, when used correctly, are one of the safest forms of bedding for your baby, toddler or child. The baby has complete freedom of movement within the Baby Sleeping Bag, the fitted neck and armholes ensure that there is no danger of either slipping down or out, provided the baby is placed in the correct size of Baby Sleeping Bag for their age and weight. Also where a suitable level of nightwear is worn, bub can sleep safely at a comfortable and constant temperature throughout the night.

Bubbaroo conducts exhaustive research and product testing to ensure that all the components of our Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bags conform to the British Safety Standards and safety regulations. Our Joey Swags are also tested in accordance with Australian Standard AS/NZ 1249:2003 Children’s nightwear and limited daywear having reduced fire hazard.

Why should I use a Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag instead of blankets and sheets?

  • A Joey Swag stops bub kicking off their covers, getting cold and waking themselves and the whole house up.
  • A Joey Swag can’t be kicked over your baby’s head
  • Bub won’t become tangled in a Joey Swag
  • A Joey Swag keeps bub at a comfortable temperature for all sleeps whether day or night
  • Your baby can wake up, move around their cot, and fall back to sleep their own without you having to keep rearranging the bedding.
  • A Joey Swag is a great sleep cue and will become a part of bub’s regular bedtime routine, and will help your baby feel familiar, secure and confident and understand when it's time for bed, even when you’re away from home
  • A Joey Swag may delay the age at which your baby is able to climb out of its cot.  Some bub’s never even attempt to climb out of a cot.  My kids never did and they were and still are very active.  They learnt that when they’re in their Joey Swag it was time for sleep!

What does the thermal resistance (TOG) rating mean?

The TOG rating describes the warmth or "Thermal Resistance" of a product and is widely used in the UK to explain warmth levels of duvets, doonas or quilts. Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bags are TOG tested to conform to British Standard BS 8510:2009. It is recommended by Health professionals that Baby Sleeping Bags should be ‘lightweight' and meet the new British Standard BS8510:2009. Baby Sleep Bags must be between 2.0 and 3.5 TOG for temperatures between 10°C and 20°C. As such our main range of Joey Swags are 2.5 TOG for the recommended ideal nursery temperature range of 15°C and 20°C.

Which TOG/weight Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag should I buy?

Our 2.5 TOG Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag is ideal for Autumn, Winter and Spring and could be used right up until the days and nights become warm. If you bub’s room is usually below 20°C, we recommend a 2.5 TOG Joey Swag. If you live in a warm climate or if you have well insulated and heated accommodation and bub’s room is usually 21°C or above, you may prefer a 1.0 TOG Joey Swag for year round use. Our 1.0 TOG Joey Swag is ideal for use from during Summer when bub’s room ranges from 20°C to 23°C.  The 1.0 TOG Joey Swags are also handy in early Spring and Autumn for day-time naps whilst your baby is still in a 2.5 tog Joey Swag at night. 0.5 TOG Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag is for use when bub’s room is above 24°C, for summer holidays overseas, or if your child is unwell and has a high temperature.

What should my baby wear under a Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag?

What your baby wears will depend on the TOG of Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag and the temperature of your baby's room, in just the same way as you would adjust nightclothes and the number of blankets. As a guide, please refer to the table below which provides a guide of what to wear with the Joey Swag. Please bear in mind that all babies are different and, just as with blankets and sheets, you will learn what your baby is most comfortable wearing. Once asleep, check baby’s temperature by placing a hand on baby’s chest to ensure they’re comfortably warm and not too hot.  Your babies’ hands and feet are often too cold and are not indicative of bub’s core temperature.  We provide a free door hanging temperature guide providing suggestions on what to wear with bub’s Joey Swag.

What is the best room temperature for my baby?

SIDS and Kids, the Lullaby Trust and Health Professionals recommend that the ideal room temperature for your baby is between 16°C and 20°C. Our 2.5 TOG Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bags are designed to be used in this temperature range. Our 3.5 TOG can be used if bub’s room is under 18°C. If bub’s room is warmer or cooler, simply adjust the level of clothing your baby is wearing. During summer months, or in warmer climates, if bub’s room is above 20°C and we recommend using our 100% cotton 1.0 TOG or 0.5 TOG Joey Swag.

The best way to keep bub’s room at around 18°C in the winter, without having to have the central heating or reverse cycle air conditioning going all night is a small thermostatically controlled heater.  These can be purchased from a hardware or electrical store.  Please ensure that the heater is well away from your baby’s cot and out of reach of your baby.  Simply adjust the heater to come on when needed to maintain the ideal room temperature, thus saving time and money turning on and off the central heating or reverse cycle air conditioning. Please remember to remove the heater if your child can climb out of their cot.

What should I do if my baby gets too cold or too hot?

If bub has woken up because they are too cold, pick them up and adjust either the temperature of the room, or the bub's clothing. If bub feels hot, you should cool them down by removing some clothing, then either adjust the temperature of the bedroom or the clothes your baby is wearing before returning them to their cot.  If you think that bub has woken due to being unwell then seek medical advice from a Healthcare Professional.

Is there any danger that my baby could become too hot in a Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag?

Provided you follow the What to Wear guidelines on the temperature guide provided free with every Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag, there should be no danger of your baby over-heating. Always keep your baby’s head uncovered NEVER use a hat or beanie. It is safest to use a Baby Sleeping Bag without sleeves and never use any clothing or bedding with a hood attached. Decrease the amount of sleepwear and bedding if your baby is unwell and has a high temperature. If you are in any doubt, please seek medical advice from a Healthcare Professional.

What size Joey Swag Sleep Bag should I buy?

Babies come in all shapes and sizes and the most important thing is for you to feel confident that your baby is not in a Baby Sleeping Bag which might be too large for your baby.

Our 0-6 month size Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag is suitable from birth if your baby weighs 8lb 8oz (4kg) or more or from when your baby is this weight. The size 0-6 months will last until your baby is 6 months old and may well last longer.  Many bubs are swaddled in their first few weeks or months of life until their startle reflex settles down.  You can use our Joey Pouch Swaddling Bag to swaddle your bub for the first few months.

The 6-18 month size Joey Swag is suitable from when your baby is 18lb (8.1 kg) and is generously sized so may well last until your baby is between 18 and 24 months.

Our 18-36 month size Joey Swag is suitable from when your toddler weighs 25lb (11.4kg) and many toddlers are still wearing their Joey Swags after the age of 3 years.

We also have size 3-6 year Joey Swags available.

How many Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bags should I buy?

As the larger sizes last for at least a year, we recommend you buy at least 2 Joey Swags, this way you’ll always have a spare one if you need one suddenly!

Why don't Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bags have sleeves?

Baby Sleeping Bags should be sleeveless to aid heat loss and air circulation. Babies sleeping under normal blankets rarely sleep with their arms covered. British Standard BS8510:2009 also states that Baby Sleeping Bags should be “without sleeves or hoods”. In cooler weather, we recommend long-sleeve bodysuits, in addition to a long-sleeved pyjama top, pyjamas or a sleepsuit.

How do I care for my Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag?

Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bags can be machine washed at 40°C. They can be hung out to dry or tumble dried on a low setting. We have designed our Joey Swags to allow for up to 5% shrinkage as is the case with all cotton garments. If you wash your Joey Swags at 60°C, you should allow for a little more shrinkage. Please take into account the environment and if not dirty wash at 30°C!

When washing, keep the zip closed. You can iron your Joey Swags on low heat but  always keep the iron away from the zip or covering the zip with a cloth.

We recommend that you wash dark colours separately for the first few washes. We also recommend that you wash your Joey Swag with detergent free from bleaching agents so they retain their original colours.

When do I stop using a Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag?

Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bags can be used right up to the time your child is ready to move from a cot to a bed. A Joey Swag can also be used in a bed because of the freedom of movement they allow. Even though your toddler will happily stand up in a zipped Joey Swag, cot-climbing will not be easy, and your Joey Swag may delay the age at which you have to move your child to a bed - hooray! Our Joey Swags are available for children aged 3-6 years! It is important to note that this size is very generous – so don't consider the size 3-6 years until your child has grown out of the 18-36 month size Joey Swag.

What other bedding can I use with my Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag?

You should use a Joey Swag instead of traditional blankets and sheets. The only other bedding required is a fitted bottom sheet. Joey Swags come in 4 TOG/warmth ratings for your individual baby and the temperature of your baby’s sleep environment. Duvets, doonas, quilts and pillows should not be used for babies under 1 year old and never with a Baby Sleeping Bag. SIDS and Kids and the Lullaby Trust recommend that the safest place for your baby to sleep is in their own cot or crib in your room for the first 6-12 months. If bub shares your bed, please ensure they are only in a Joey Swag, and not under your own bedding as well. It is important to note that Joey Swags are designed to replace blankets and sheets in your baby's cot or bed or when out and about strapped into a pram or a car seat. Baby Sleeping Bags are not intended to be used as dressing gowns or pyjamas.  Walking around in a Baby Sleeping Bag is a safety hazard and negates the use of a Joey Swag as a sleep cue and use as part of a regular bedtime routine.

Important: never use your Joey Swag Baby Sleep Bag with a duvet, doona or quilt.

Why don’t you sell Joey Swags to last my baby for longer – for example from 6 month to 3 years?

Babies grow significantly between 6 months and 3 years and we believe that it is not safe to develop a Baby Sleep Bag that would fit, and be safe for, both a 6 month old baby and a 3 year old toddler. In the first 6 months of life, babies grow at the greatest rate and then their rate of growth slows down gradually. This is why our smallest size Joey Swag 0-6months will last for 6 months, our size 6-18months lasts for a whole year, and our size 18-36months lasts for 18 months.

Why is the weight of the baby so important for the smaller size Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag?

The key safety point is to ensure that babies cannot slip down inside the Baby Sleeping Bag. As such the neck size has been designed to be as large as possible to allow for comfort and heat loss, whilst being smaller than the average head circumference of the younger age/lower weight of baby for the Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag. The new British Standard BS8510:2009 for Baby Sleeping Bags is based on average head circumference linked to average weight. Most new parents do not know the head circumference of their bub but they keep track of their bub’s weight and this is why weight is used as a guide.

You must always ensure that your baby's head can’t slip down and get covered by any bedding, whether that bedding is a Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag, blankets or sheets.

When can I first put my baby in a Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag?

The size 0-6 months Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag can be used for a full-term, 8lb 8oz (4kg) baby from birth. However, if your baby weighs less than 8lb 8oz (4kg) at birth, we recommend you wait a short time, until your baby grows. For the first few weeks and for babies under 8lb 8oz (4kg), we recommend the Joey Pouch Swaddling Bag as a safe and easy alternative for your baby. Our 0-6 month size Joey Swag includes under-arm press studs (YKK brand) to reduce the size of the armholes for babies up to 10lbs (4.5kg).

What is the difference between a Joey Swag and any other Baby Sleeping Bag?

Our highly safe, functional and chic range of Swags have earned us the title of ‘Sleeping Bag of the Year’ from Mother & Baby Magazine, Australia.  My journey in establishing Bubbaroo follows in close step with my first child’s sleep story.  I felt really passionately that I could help parents and babies get better sleep, in products that were safe, comfortable and easy to use. We have worked with and supported SIDS and Kids to help promote safe sleep for babies. We follow all the latest research into safe sleep to make sure that not only are our Joey Swags the highest quality but they’re safe.  I have used all the products on my own children.  When you buy a Bubbaroo Joey Swag you can rest assured that you’re choosing a Baby Sleeping Bag that:
